Help Grow An Independent Bookshop

Hi there.  My name is Lindsay Schultz and I have loved reading my entire life.  When I got into high school, I finally realized what I wanted to do with my life.  I wanted to open my own bookstore in my community. 

So here I am at 45, finally working on making my dream a reality.  I currently have a small booth in the Trellis and Vine Studio and Gallery, which is a local art community building.  I would love to be able to expand it and grow with my town, which is located in Smyrna. TN.  I want to include books from different cultures so that everyone is represented.  I think that inclusion and representation are so incredibly important and given the chance I would love to help people find books where they can read about people like them.  

One of the things that I would love to be able to do is start a program to give books to kids that can't afford them.  I firmly believe everyone should have access to books, no matter what.   Another thing I would love to accomplish is a kid's books club so that the kids can vote on a book, read the book, and then meet up once a month to discuss it.  

I want to be more than just a store in this community.  I want to be part of something bigger than myself and I hope that I can reach more local authors, find local readers, and grow as more people find me.  I can't wait to share my love of reading with everyone.
