Project Description

"For the love of God"—my upcoming album—will be my greatest contribution to Christian music. I've been working on a new project for few years now. I've written and rewritten it numerous times, taken pauses, thought about the work as a whole, and found ways to give its most moving themes—grief, healing, reaffirming my faith, and reclaiming my own humanity amid the bizarre shame spirals that result from being mistreated or unseen—breathing room. Although I'm not really a New Englander at heart (you'll always be mine, California, you tormented, gorgeous mess of a place), the Robert Frost adage "the best way out is always through" resonates deeply with me. The album candidly explores my mess in a way that I hope will bring comfort and healing to people who have dealt with similar messes.

Since releasing "Not today," my last full-length album, five years ago, I have undergone significant internal and exterior changes. Songs that have undergone a great deal of serious personal labor have the ability to heal me or break me depending on the day (some even make me giggle; it's not just a total sobfest hehe). Additionally, I've been working on this project slowly and letting things stew due of how weighty it is overall. The tracks are now better and the album is now much more potent overall because to this time.

But now that I've created a legitimate first pass at a home studio and have an official track list, it's time to really make the album. I've been producing covers for YouTube for a long, but this is my first time making my own music, so I'm letting my indie-pop-synth demons loose while adhering to my origins. Bass, keyboard, fiddle, percussion, vocal, mandolin,  harmony, and accordion will all be present (and you're going to like it) in the upcoming song. There will also be more instruments as well. Who knows what other equipment might arrive in my basement at three in the morning.

Since this is a musical project, the most of the rewards are pretty obvious, but if you have any inquiries, kindly contact me. There will be a variety of T-shirt possibilities, each with a song lyric. I'll also be doing vinyl for the first time, and I can't wait.

I'm excited to realize my ambitious goals for music videos and lyric videos. I'll be working with Sarah of Mute Productions on that front, and we're already causing trouble on the photography front.

"Break a Leg", which a sizable portion of my fan base already adores, will be one of the album's standout songs. If that involves you, many thanks!

Risks and difficulties:

The benefit of taking my time to create this studio and write this album is that I'm essentially ready to go; I just need the money to pay the other musicians who will be involved, pay Sarah for photos, Eric and others for videos, and have physical discs produced. The $4.7K here is the absolute lowest I'll have to pay others to make this happen, not including any studio expenditures I'll have to make back, and anything over will just go toward music videos, advertising, etc.
