Our Mission
You Are More Than, Inc (YAMT) is the first Black-led, Queer-Led, and Survivor-led, organization in New Jersey aimed at shifting the narrative within the mental health, educational, and financial sector for marginalized adult survivors of commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking.
We are unique as we focus on uplifting BIPOC and LGBTQ survivor communities.
By providing quality, after-care services that uplift survivors beyond crisis management, we aim to help adult survivors move towards long-lasting freedom, that goes beyond crisis management and into long-term supportive care.
The Problem
Historically, throughout the anti-trafficking movement, there has been a push toward preventative + crisis management for survivors in care. With such a strong emphasis on helping survivors exit their exploitation, many supportive services fall short in understanding the need for long-term, supportive, after-care support.
How is our approach different?
Where will the funding go?
Our Impact:
Since opening our doors in 2020 we have supported 149 survivors through our programs and invested $21,000 into survivors through our survivor emergency fund, entrepreneurship program, therapy reimbursement program, and education initiative. We also have trained over 590 providers in the anti-trafficking field and launched the first mental health directory geared towards bridging the gap in mental health services for survivors of trafficking called Nurture Forward Directory.
