Project Description
Urban Reader Bookstore has been around since 2000, since BLM we decided to take our ecommerce store to a local retail bookstore. Our mission is to educate the community, provide small business owners a way to sell their products, self published authors another outlet besides Amazon, and the local HBCU culinary arts students a monthly small plate menu at the Bistro. We are living in a teachable moment where people want to learn about our history. Our inventory will give them a safe place to have the conversation. We plan on having pop-up shops outside with local food trucks, jazz concerts, storytelling, and book signing events.
We are seeking funds to increase social media management while we sign a lease on a potential property. We will need a general contractor to build the bar and general construction work. We would like to have available cash for lease and payroll.
The team consist of myself as the owner and my son who will be the store manager. We look forward to hiring people who has been effected by COVID.
