Project Description
Our mission at suakoko (SWAH-ko-ko) betty is to help women celebrate their inner artist by creating modern, African-inspired clothing and to elevate West African artists through textile partnerships.
Fashion offerings for the modern women are often bland, cookie-cutter looks that sacrifice ease and personality for trends. suakoko betty pieces feature vibrant colors and memorable prints that bring joy to the lives of our clients and help them express their unique style. By partnering with West African batik and tie-dye artists for our handmade textile pieces, we ensure that they can build a livelihood and sustainable business from their craft.
As the designer behind suakoko betty, I personally curate or co-create all our textiles and design them into styles that are effortless, beautifully-made and fit the dynamic lifestyles of our clients. Our pieces are made in small batches with lots of love and attention to detail and client satisfaction. Our dresses and separates are a go-to for zoom meetings, outings with friends and special occasions. Clients often come back and tell us how amazing they feel and many compliments they get when they wear suakoko betty.
We will use the funding in two primary areas. First, we’ll invest in sales and marketing resources to get the word out about our amazing collection and to build scale. Second we'll use the funds to invest in partnerships with West African artists, including product development, training and licensing.
Our small powerhouse team includes our local contract sewers and two marketing managers.

How do I order the right size?
Match your bust, waist and hip measurements to our size chart (on our website) to get the best fit. If your reward is a clothing item, please provide your preferred size.
How do you ship my order?
We ship by United States Postal Service (USPS) Priority Mail or First Class mail for US domestic addresses (typically arrives in 2 days). International shipments are also sent by USPS and arrive in 6-10 business days.

Can I select the fabric for my garment?
We can't honor request for specific prints, but if you have a preferred color family, let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate. Thank you!
