Simply Lavish Hair Emporium
Live Life, Simply Lavish!
Project Description
Simply Lavish Hair Emporium LLC is a black-owned Beauty Supply Store. Our storefront is located in Tylertown,Ms with a population of approximately 2,000 residents. Although this may seem like a small population, there are approximately 800,000 people within 60 miles of Tylertown.
The Problem
Our store was created because there aren't any beauty supply stores in our area. The nearest beauty supply store is 20 miles away, which is very inconvenient especially if you're working on a specific hairstyle and you run out of products. There is also a lack of representation within this industry; there are only 2,000 black-owned beauty supply stores in the United States.
Our Mission
Being a frequent beauty supply customer, I've had the opportunity to experience different beauty supply stores. So we want to make the experience more upscale for our customer. For our store design, we want to shift away from the way conventional beauty supply stores look like.
Beauty Industry Analysis
Black women spend approximately $54 million on beauty products.
Creating Community
The city of Tylertown has greeted us with open arms, so we want to give back to the community. We want our business to be about more than just hair and beauty; we want to have an impact in this world.
Some of the community projects we are interested in:
- Neighborhood clean up
- Provide menstral products for the local high school
- Teach young girls how to style their hair
- Creating a community pantry
What are we raising the funding for
We are currently seeking funding because (1) it's difficult for new business to gain funding, (2) there are not a lot of funding opportunities for business owned by black women
#1: Inventory
Don't you hate when you go to a beauty supply store and they don't have what you're looking for. Well with the funding, we want to make sure we have all the products your looking for in order to increase your experience as a shopper in our store. We plan on having braiding hair, shampoo, weaves, gels, etc.
#2: Parking
Previously our store location was used as a housing complex, the front our store location has a large grass area with little to no parking for our customers. So with the funding, we want to create more parking in front of our store. This process will involve hiring someone to pour concrete in order to create a flat area for parking.
#3: Accessibility
We want to make sure no one is excluded from shopping at our store, so we want to make it more accessible. In order to do this, we want to add ramp by our entrance. We also want to make sure that we have employees that are able to help customers if they need extra assistance.
Albreona Brown, CEO & Founder
What makes her qualified?
Growing up, Albreona has always been interested with hair and beauty products. After watching various Youtube tutorials like any other teenager, she learned braiding skills like cornrows, box braids, twists, etc. She later received her braiders license in the state of Mississippi. This allows her to be knowledgable of what make a beauty supply store become successful.
