MISSION & VISION
Statement Junky, Inc. is a non-profit youth development organization that develops future world leaders by changing the way girls and young women of color interact and see the world.
Our mission is to gift girls and young women of color with an essential key to access the world – her first passport. Statement Junky’s programming curates a safe and inspiring space for participants to thrive and build lifelong relationships while discussing topics and issues unique to them. Using a passport as a tool to access the world, Statement Junky’s vision is that all girls will reach beyond the borders of her community to see the world, utilizing self-discovery, personal experiences, and knowledge gained through exploration to ultimately change the world.

EDUCATE
Creating a safe and inspiring space for girls of color to discuss topics unique to them while empowering each girl through positive identity development is our top priority.
- Our educational curriculum includes 6 pillars of excellence in the following areas;
- Health & Wellness
- Career Pathways & Entrepreneurship
- College Readiness
- Community Service & Advocacy
- Financial Literacy
- Exploration
- We host, workshops, seminars, and panel discussions curated and facilitated by women of color.
- Leader University is our online resource center.
EMPOWER
- Each girl and young woman in our program is gifted with an essential key to access the world - her first passport. Girls who obtain a passport with us are called Passport Queens.
EXPLORE
- Our participants are connected with travel camps, service-learning opportunities, and study abroad programs around the globe.
OUR IMPACT
Girls and young women of color wrestle with very distinct challenges and distractions during their formative years – including preoccupation with their skin complexion, hair texture, body type, and sexuality; navigating depression, emotional stress, traumas, and weakened self-esteem.
Our programming is designed to educate, empower, and inspire girls to reach beyond the borders of their communities, explore the world, find small pieces of themselves at the end of each journey, and return to their communities as change agents.
The skills developed and the ways in which our girls have grown include;
- Adaptability
- Better communication and interpersonal skills,
- Problem-solving skills,
- Empathy for other cultures and
- so much more
HOW YOU CAN HELP
In response to COVID 19, like millions of organizations around the world, we had to get creative in the way we served our girls and young women. We took to the online space and found that our tribe was interactive, engaging and they sort out for us to create a safe and inspiring online ecosystem only for our girls.
Our goal is to transition our educational programming to the online space, creating a social community online and via a mobile app with online tutorials, videos, mentorship, educational tools, and resources for our girls, their mentors, their families, and our partners. Our transition to the online space and via an app will allow the organization to reach and impact girls not only in NYC but nationally.

WHY DO YOU ONLY WORK WITH GIRLS?
Statement Junky Inc. recognizes the unique challenges that girls face and is committed to providing programming that helps compensate for these gender inequalities. While society's expectations affect both boys and girls, studies show that girls are more disadvantaged by them. Gender-specific programming lets girls focus on their real interests, at their own pace, free from distractions and comparisons.
WHY IS STATEMENT JUNKY NEEDED?
Imagine a community where all of our girls are safe, healthy, thriving, and ready to realize their full potential. Much has changed over the years, but growing up to be a healthy, confident, and independent female continues to be a daunting task. For hundreds of girls facing social and economic challenges, Statement Junky Inc. provides the safe space, the encouragement, and the subject matter they need in order to envision a brighter future as a change agent in her community and abroad.
HOW DOES A GIRL GET INVOLVED IN STATEMENT JUNKY?
The primary outlets for Statement Junky programming are our Make A Statement Conference, Monthly workshops, Leader University, and the Passport Queen cohorts. With your support and contributions, we will be able to educate, empower, and inspire girls nationally via our online platform and app.
WHAT AGES ARE THE GIRLS IN THE PROGRAM?
Typically, participants we serve are in high school and within their first year in college, ages 13 - 19. Phase two of our launch to the online space will be to offer our programs to middle school girls.
HOW MUCH DOES THE PROGRAM COST?
The Passport Queen program is free for all eligible girls and young women of color.
HOW CAN I HELP OUTSIDE OF MAKING A CONTRIBUTION?
