Shop Be In Not Of (BINO)
Sustainable streetwear brand handcrafting one-of-a-kind faith-based apparel
Project Description
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Shop BINO is a sustainable streetwear brand handcrafting one-of-a-kind faith-based apparel for those who choose not to blend in.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to give Christian Millennials and Gen Z a faith-based apparel option that highlights their self-expression and individuality without contributing to environmental harm.
VISION
We envision a brand that does good for people and our planet. Our vision is to change the landscape of the faith-based apparel market by infusing sustainable and mindful design into everything we make.
In addition, we aspire to lead a movement through creativity and connection in order to bridge the divide between believers and non-believers. It's more than just clothes.
SO HERE'S THE PROBLEM
The Christian apparel market is flooded with poorly designed, cheesy messages, that do more dividing than uniting. Today's generation of believers want to express our values through style, but don't want to be off-putting.
Additionally, we feel self-expression shouldn't come at the cost of environmental harm (the apparel; industry is a huge contributor to global warming).
OUR SOLUTION
At Shop BINO, we transform thrifted finds and remnant fabrics into wearable art with a subtle faith-based message. This is Christian streetwear like you've never seen it before.
The name of our first collection is "Swim Upstream." The phrase means to go against the current (culture) and towards the source (God). To swim upstream takes courage, tenacity and strength.
CO-CREATION SESSION
Members of the BINO community helped influence the design choices. Participants were given words/phrases that relate to BINO’s core values (i.e. ‘swim upstream’) and told to interpret it through blind contours, collages, word association lists, etc.
MARKET SIZE/OPPORTUNITY
Shop BINO lives at the intersection of three thriving apparel markets right now: sustainability, streetwear, and faith-based apparel. The sustainability and streetwear movements have become increasingly mainstream in the last five years. When you add in a faith-based message, you get a brand that is the first of its kind. Shop BINO prides itself on being a leader and innovator in the Christian apparel sector.
LAUNCH
We're launching this Fall 2019, with our 2 most popular styles. Our "Against the Current" tee and our "Undulation" crewneck. Our method of sustainably sourcing materials means each piece is truly one-of-one. When you purchase with us, you can feel confident in knowing no one else has your exact same shirt.

The Campaign FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Does Shop BINO have men's and women's sizes?
A: Yes! All of our clothing is unisex/genderless.
Q: How do your source materials for BINO apparel?
A: The apparel is hand-thrifted by the designer. Niyah carefully curates the highest quality thrifted items to use as a base. She then washes everything thoroughly before screen printing and adding handcrafted touches to each piece. Remnant fabrics and waste scraps are used as additional layers, giving the garment a wearable art feel.
