What is the mission of your company or project?
Ma Fête is a one-stop online children’s party supply store that offers high quality, luxurious, beautifully designed products combined in unique themes with a sustainable consciousness. We help parents throw fun, inspiring events by simplifying the planning and execution with coordinated motifs and an environmentally-friendly approach.Our curated party boxes consist of in-house designed supplies that include all the necessary items for throwing a fabulous party. Ma Fête offers multiple types of themed boxes, from birthday to holiday to more general designs, with additional products and services such as gifts, games, toys, as well as style guides, recycling information and services, tool kits, tips for recipes, and unique unboxing experiences. This will evolve into a platform that captures most of the value around events (think subscriptions, new products, third party marketplace, vendor selection, and more), leveraging our e-commerce foundation to diversify revenue and customers. We recently added a digital invites offering that can be purchased through our e-comm store, allowing party organizers to further streamline the process of throwing an event and serving as an initial foray into a more robust, sticky platform.

Describe the problem you are solving.
Planning and executing a kid's party is time consuming and usually entails ordering from different stores with multiple package deliveries, causing headaches and excess waste. Ma Fête designs captivating themes that can be ordered together or à la carte, delivering a delightful experience without the hassle. Parents no longer have to research and choose a theme with associated activities, sourcing from a variety of vendors and tracking down different packages with exorbitant shipping fees.

Parties are supposed to be fun, and Ma Fête allows parents to create the best atmosphere for their children without spending hours on planning.

What is the market size/opportunity?

There are 18 million households in the US that have over $100k in annual income and theme-party-aged children, and the average American family will host 7.2 parties per year, for a total of 129.6 million parties per year. The average parent spends $400 on a birthday party for their child, but if we halve that spend to $200 we still arrive at a TAM of $25.9 billion.

What is your company/product about and how does it solve the problem? 

Ma Fête's range of themed party supplies offer everything that you need to plan and execute an inspiring party, delivered in a single box. Each theme includes all the non-consumable items that you need, packaged in a beautiful and environmentally friendly way that reduces waste. Every item is unique, designed in-house that you cannot find anywhere else, with unmatched quality that goes well beyond the basic wares offered by Party City.

The success of our soft launch validates product-market fit, and not only are we organically expanding our customer base but we are seeing healthy re-orders from our wholesale partners. We are constantly responding to inbound interest from customers, as well as brands that are interested in collaborating with us on creating new collections. With additional funding we will be able to actively pursue partnerships and expand our outreach.

Why are you seeking funding and how will you spend the funding?

We have raised $475k to-date, allowing us to create initial inventory, start seeding the market, optimize processes and prove our model. We are seeking $20k to invest in manufacturing new theme (Safari) that will drive growth.

Who is on your team?

Founder, Anna Bacon, settled in NY in 2012 and received her Masters Degrees in Social Work (NYU) and Child Development (Sarah Lawrence). She is a mother of two young children who regularly hosts parties for her community, from birthday parties to holiday events and general get togethers, experiencing firsthand the challenges of consistently coming up with unique themes. Anna combines a talented eye for design with a core understanding of our customers' mindset and lifestyle, which enables us to create products that are sure to surprise and delight.

We bolster our Founder's vision and passion with three key active operational advisors:

Jackie Stauffer brings critical marketing expertise from 20 years of leadership as an omni-channel marketing executive, working with leading consumer lifestyle brands including Estée Lauder, Equinox, Food52 and dozens of high-growth startups; through her experience across many verticals, she’s perfected her ability to create scalable roadmaps, build teams, and derive solutions to achieve high-impact results. 

Chris Brady is a former venture capitalist, serial entrepreneur and Angel investor with over 17 years helping businesses from ideation to growth, and his operational expertise and growth strategy experience ensures that every dollar of capital is allocated to create the most value.

Sterling Wilson is the founder and President of Pop! Promos, one of the fastest growing businesses in Philadelphia that was bootstrapped into a high growth company; his entrepreneurial journey allowed him to develop core competencies in financial management, product development, sourcing operations, and compliance that are crucial to Ma Féte's success.
