Rockin Cushions

Rockin Cushions started as small rocking chair pad business, making one of kind designs on Etsy. It is now growing steadily, with a focus on custom slipcovers for IKEA furniture. 

From the beginning, our range of covers have offered an affordable way to upcycle your current IKEA furniture, reducing landfill and adding aesthetic value to your home. Our products protect your investment year after year, and help consumers feel environmentally conscious about their previously "disposable" furniture.

With any manufacturing process, accumulating waste is inevitable. That's why we decided to repurpose our waste material into travel and accessory products to help reduce our overall carbon footprint. We make fanny packs, tote bags, backpacks, face masks and other items, under our brand "Bootypacks".  We will soon be launching our subscription box called "Repurposed" in time for the holidays, featuring other sustainable brands.

We are seeking funding to expand our operations, increase brand awareness and enhance our marketing efforts. Our ultimate goal is to be the go-to brand for slipcovers for furniture rental companies, the interior design industry, home stagers and the like. As of December, we have signed a distribution deal to sell our products in big box stores online. But we need continued funding to stay afloat and expand our collaborations with other eco-conscious brands.

Rockin Cushions is owned and operated by Michelle Van Der Water. Michelle was born in South Africa and raised in Australia. She received her Fine Arts degree from Wollongong University and initially moved to LA to pursue a career in acting. Her small side business of making rocking chair cushions and pillows grew quickly. Requests for other furniture covers were hard to ignore and she decided to focus her attention solely on growing her business. Other team members include freelancers in the digital media arena and some interns who have graciously contributed their time.
