Rhea's Flora Farm

Rhea's Flora Farm is an initiative that seeks to bring good, nutritious food to those who are shelterless and fundless. The mission of the company is to provide a good source of food for underprivileged individuals; this is a project that doesn't stand for the systemic othering of individuals who have fallen down on their luck. Rhea's Flora Farm is a company adamant about equity and resources for all, so opening a space where volunteers and individuals in need of work can do good for others, raising food that is not only good but nutritious, and educating about disparities that occur under everyone's noses is imperative to the Farm's mission. Ultimately, Rhea's Flora Farm seeks to tackle the pandemic of hunger. For some time, we estimate Rhea's Flora Farm to be a small project which will eventually snowball into a grand franchise of good that will spread nationwide and globally. So essentially, Rhea's Flora Farm is a farm; the farm will raise a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, & nuts, will outsource for fresh sources of meat, fish, and proteins, and will package and deliver these foods to be transported to shelter-less individuals, impoverished individuals, and others who are in need. The utilization of frozen foods (once grown and prepared) will be a primary way to maintain the freshness of the food while waiting for transport, and the rest of the food will be stored and prepared for the next rollout which will go out daily. A project such as this will require much preparation and funding, which is why I am beginning this campaign now before I graduate from college. The funds will go towards the purchase of land, farming tools, seeds, irrigation, and crop maintenance substances. Additional expenses that are anticipated will be transportation, legal fees, electricity, and many other monthly expenses. For now, I am the only one on my team. My name is Kendra Smith and I am a senior at Spelman College. Service is a large passion of mine and I would love to begin my reign of goodness as soon as I graduate. An investment in my project is an investment in me and I do not take that lightly. This is a huge dream of mine to be able to make an impact on those around me and this is merely the beginning of the many passion projects that center around other social goods.
