Bra manufactures and industry experts conducted studies and claim that 80% of women are in the wrong bra size. Insinuating that woman are the problem in choosing the wrong bra. In reality, the current 100 year old bra design is wrong for 80% of women! Over the last 50 years the average breast size has grown from 34B to 36DD. Breast tissue is heavy, unsupported and dynamic. In addition, we have become a technology driven society spending hours looking at computers and smart phones and that effects our posture.
Support the breast tissue by counter balancing the weight over our skeleton and reduce bounce. The Posture Wings garments are engineered to leverage our own skeleton and muscles to support the breast tissue that is not naturally supported. The patented straps improve posture while reducing bounce. The combination of comfortable, effective breast support with posture positioning is a game changer!
- Comfortable and beautiful garments with effective posture support!
- Biomechanically tested through a major university and proven effective in reversing poor posture!
- A duration of good posture will increase muscles that hold the body in proper posture and that reduces disk and joint inflammation pain and increases range of movement.
In 2006 I was in constant pain, one morning I woke up and lost the use of my arms. I began physical therapy where they diagnosed both my pain and lack of mobility was a result of compression on my neck due to my poor posture.
At the end of my PT session they would tape my shoulders in an effort to improve my posture. The tape just pulled my skin and did not help. When I asked my PT “where can I find a posture brace?” She informed me that no effective brace existed. I assumed that I was the only one with the issue and she said that almost everyone that she treats has the same issue! I learned that women suffer significant more pain (Musculoskeletal Disorders) then men because we have a more fragile neck and shoulder anatomy and we have breasts.
I was determined to make something that would help me and other women, so I began prototyping a solution on a bra, and it became clear that the bra was flawed! I researched the history of bras to understand why women were wearing such a harmful garment. Even when the jog bra was created in the 1970s – the theory was compression – Compression is uncomfortable over our ribs and is bad for our respiration. Also, when you compress breast tissue “in” it still moves up and down when you move. It was originally marketed as the Jockstrap for Women!
For hundreds of years women wore corsets for breast and posture support. The marketers of the time encouraged a small waist and strait spine. The waist-cinching is terrible, it deforms the ribs and displaces your organs”.
Luckily, in WW1 all steel was required to go to the war effort and corset manufacturing was banned. Women had to bind their breasts in the early 1900s (Flapper era) with a product called the bandeau. Ida Rosenthal was a famous dress maker and wanted her dresses to look better so she took the bandeau and cut 2 holes in it and placed cups in it, she gave it to her husband William to finish designing it. William had no understanding of the female anatomy or the physics of dynamic breast tissue. They were the creators of Maidenform and the same garment exists today.
What started on my kitchen table, turned into several years of working with leaders in biomechanics, physical therapy, and technical garment construction. I patented the core technology with manual, wired, wireless and phase change technology capabilities for any type of upper torso garment. I bootstrapped my first run and attained consumer feedback and scientific proof.
I spent 4 months at NC State, College of Textiles with a product development class dedicated to Posture Wings. I’ve been awarded a Health Innovator award, and spent a month at the HAX incubator in Shenzhen China.
I want women to know that the bra was not designed for our anatomy!
