we're on a mission to redefine luxury with sustainability, inclusivity, and retail activism.
Project Description
We're nunchi, a women of color-owned jewelry business on a mission to redefine luxury with sustainability, inclusivity, and retail activism. Our entire business leans on the Korean concept of nunchi (an innate connection to society) to build a brand that is sustainable in theory and practice. That includes everything from sustainable materials such as recycled gold and lab grown diamonds to sustainable business practices of body inclusivity, diverse representation throughout our production pipeline, and equity for people of color.
nunchi is the homegrown solution to an industry that is more concerned with greenwashing marketing efforts than addressing systemic change. Instead of just demanding a seat at the table, we're throwing our own dinner party and the guest list includes diverse creators and change makers who are here to steward the new definition of luxury.
1. We are deliberately using 100% recycled gold and sterling silver, as well as lab-grown diamonds and gemstones for our sustainable fine jewelry line. Lab-grown diamonds have the same chemical, physical, and optical properties as mined diamonds, but are conflict-free and do not cause over 396 billion pounds of hazardous waste to be dumped into water streams every year.* We see that as a pretty big impact to our community, and to our world.
2. Since our inception last year, we've held several product campaigns to highlight and support community organizations we deeply admire including The Bail Project, GOSO NYC, The Trevor Project, and The Marsha P. Johnson Institute through a donated portion of proceeds. While this was a critical first step in trying to do our part in this industry, we are only just getting started.
3. Not only does our supply chain consist of BIPOC, family-owned, immigrant-owned suppliers, we implement diversity & inclusivity efforts in both our marketing efforts and internal hires. As women of color, we are not only creating an inclusive space for BIPOC, we are also reclaiming physical space in the notoriously exclusionary jewelry industry.

In short, sustainably sourcing high-end materials isn't cheap but it is oh so necessary. We've deliberately chosen to only work with accredited suppliers who share our mission for a more ethical industry, especially in regards to fair wages and transparent sourcing. Your funding will also help with our retail technology integration and to create, market, and launch a compelling campaign to educate consumers on their impact as fine jewelry customers. We believe people deserve the right to know the impact their purchasing has, because social activism and retail activism go hand-in-hand.
who we are
Founders Jane and Michelle don't just have a passion for retail activism, they also have the industry credentials to compliment this venture. Having led the Buying and Product Management of multi-million-dollar brands at Amazon and Macy's, as well as grown a high-end jewelry brand from a 12-style assortment to a collection worn by celebrities including Beyonce, Madonna, and Rihanna (to name a few), their collective 20+ years breadth of experience perfectly positions them to tackle the $40 Billion fine jewelry market.

- Honey Lux upholds style and sustainability. The concept behind HoneyLux accessories is simple: to craft beautiful, luxury-quality pieces that make you feel confident about daily hair-care and self-care routines.
- Tharrazzo merges sustainability with design. Using earth-conscious and non-toxic raw materials, these creations are purposefully handmade.
