Project Description

Thanks so much for your interest in my project!

My name is Coloma Muro, a Licensed Psychologist and Nutritionist, with a MSc in Neuroscience and Primatology, 500 hr Yoga Teacher Certified, and a forever Student of Life!

I have been working on this project for some months now, and I am looking forward to sharing it with the world! 

 

THE REASON BEHIND MY PROJECT

 

After more than a decade in Mental Health and working in Research within the Neuroscience field, I believe that all of the Western-diagnosed diseases such as Psychosomatic disorders (Hypertension, IBS, Diabetes...), PTSD, Addictions, Personality Disorders, Eating Disorders, Depression, and Anxiety, among others, are manifestations of stress in our bodies and minds for long periods of time.

Rather than treating symptoms, I deeply believe in our bodies' innate power to heal. People need education in this regard, as our society is programmed to seek external things to "fix" whatever happens at an internal level. We need to learn how to connect within so we can show up in this world as our authentic selves and thrive as we are truly meant to do. 

 

MISSION - To create a healthier society

By cultivating a healthy relationship with ourselves, we can make choices that align with what our bodies truly need - rather than what our programmed and conditioned minds desire -. 

Mindfulness deepens the connection between body and mind, as by drawing attention to the internal experience of the present we allow for the relaxation response to activate. When the nervous system is calm, we can bring about emotional balance as well as reduce physical and psychological stress. This translates into a clear mind that is open to "listening" to what the body is communicating to us. 

The practice of Mindfulness goes hand in hand with the ancient tradition of Yoga, which nurtures the embodiment of our physical, emotional and psychological wounds, creating space for us to accept and experience all parts of ourselves.  Thus, it fosters the inner peace and freedom that come with Being who we truly are. 

 

THE PROJECT - Inspira Los Angeles 

Inspira Los Angeles offers a safe space in which the teachings of Yoga beyond the mat are shared, so individuals have access to affordable Health Care from an integrative perspective. My intention is to create a supportive and diverse community of collective healing in which both body and mind are cared for equally. 

 

THE TEAM

The teachers are based in Rishikesh - where Yoga was born -  and in California. 

Each of them provide the most beautiful blend of knowledge and experience to help calm the mind and be more connected to the body. 

​There is a soul and a depth that all Inspira Los Angeles professionals share: their devotion to Yoga expands beyond the mat, and it is reflected in their thoughtful and unique teachings.

​All instructors hold Alternative Medicine Certifications and/or a BA's and Master's within the Holistic and Integrative Health field. 

 

WHY I NEED HELP

I am European, moved to the US 4 years ago when I enrolled in another postgraduate program. I suffered from an accident so unfortunately I lacked funds to continue with everything I was doing. My passion to serve the world didn't stop though, so with no legal permit to work in this country I decided to adjust the way I delivered my service, to my abilities. I created my own business, and trained companies in Mindfulness.

However, I realized the corporate world only allowed me to share the practice with the privileged.

I am pouring my soul into creating a platform where Mindfulness and (True) Yoga are shared so people from all walks of life can benefit from it, with the aim of building an all-inclusive community where Respect and Kindness are the core values.

The funds will be destined to:

1. Cover marketing expenses - to reach people who are struggling with Anxiety and/or other Immigration-related issues. Mindfulness is the most effective tool to manage Anxiety and it doesn't require further costs in regards to medication. 

2. Pay the professionals that will provide with the service to the aforementioned communities

3. Platform expenses - I am using a software to run the mindfulness and yoga sessions.

 

 

I believe that within each soul lies a limitless wellspring of Love, which can be drawn out when fully engaged in the present moment. We all need each other to flourish, and sometimes we could use some guidance for us to learn to connect with our breath and raise awareness around what truly matters in this life, which lies beyond the individualistic needs.
