καρδία does not refer to the physical organ but is used figuratively to refer to the seat and center of human life. The heart is the center of the personality, and it controls the intellect, emotions, and will.

We believe in coffee in all its forms – whole bean, brewed, and espresso – should be an approachable, accessible luxury to all. Kardia’s mission is to make our coffee a memorable experience, not just in the act of consuming it but in the presence of whomever you’re enjoying it with. The local coffee community of Denver has blossomed into an inclusive and supportive collective of baristas and roasters enabling each other to push the limits of their product and create a high-class experience for a community of all classes. It’s not just the coffee industry culture, but the coffee consumer culture as well. We as consumers meet together with daily expectations of service and escapism through this one beverage. Kardia was born out of the collective idea that one product, one place can serve as the central heart of a community. Not necessarily referring to the physical sense but figuratively referring to the seat and center of human life, and our enjoyment of it.  

We care about good coffee, taking care of people, and creating a space where people feel safe, seen, and heard all the while enjoying a superior cup of craft coffee. At Kardia it is our mission to create personal connections and lead by example both in quality of product and equality for all.  We will make a positive change by serving the local community and supporting all of our coffee families throughout the Denver market and beyond.  

Who the heck are we?

Hi friends, thank you so much for taking time out of your day to support our dream! This concept is the pipe dream of our founder and lead barista Allye Wagner. 

Colorado native, she grew up in the metro area and has worked as a barista in Denver since 2013. Allye trained under Intelligentsia for Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) Competition and quality control and has worked alongside some of Denver's best who have also moved on to open their own successful shops. She has worked behind the bar of some of Denver's most recognizable names and after years of managing and training program consultation has taken the plunge into realizing a long-time dream.

With her, Allye is bringing what she hopes to be a colorful and inclusive group of individuals. Where we can work together with you, our community, to create our Kardia.

Currently

We have signed a lease in the ballpark neighborhood at 2401 Blake St. in Denver CO, and we are currently working with our contractors to realize our concept within the space. We project to be April  2021.

Goals

We have raised funding from family support and personal funds to start Kardia, and we are counting on you to help us in the final push. Our goal starts at $10,000 which will go towards paying our contractors and creating an aesthetically pleasing and welcoming space for you to meet and work.

The personal goals of Kardia can be broken down into short-term and long-term goals.

Short Term Goals: 

- Opening a beautiful space to serve our product.

- Connecting the local community at our centralized hub.

- Become a renowned and respected coffee shop within the Denver area.

 Long Term Goals:

- Connect with other coffee communities.

- Develop a unionized system within the Denver coffee community to provide healthcare and standardize proper compensation and treatment of craft baristas.

- Host friendly competitions for all baristas to further push quality and community in the Denver area. 

- Stand amongst Denver’s most respectable coffee shops.

Rewards

Our rewards are all unique products to Kardia, designed by us with you in mind, to thank you for being a wonderful supporter.

We have 3 kinds of rewards - Merch, Frequent Flyer Cards, and Experiences.

Merch: Stickers, hand-written thank you card, T-shirt, and MiiR tumbler.

Frequent Flyer Cards: Valid for 25, 75, or 150 beverages.

Experiences: Espresso Lover's class, Flavor Experience, Home Barista Masterclass, and Signature Beverage dedication.

Risks and challenges

We have already overcome many challenges, including pulling permits and navigating through COVID-19 as a new business to create a sustainable business model during a pandemic. While there is still the risk of not meeting our campaign goal, we fully trust you, your friends, and the community to come together and help us make Kardia a reality! The biggest hurdle ahead is finishing construction without any unexpected delays (though nothing will compare to COVID) and passing our inspections with the city. We have been preparing for the construction process for over a year and are confident that our general contractor and subcontractors will do their best work alongside us to realize Kardia as quickly as possible. Our current projection for opening is April 2021. While there are risks and challenges with every new project, we believe in Kardia's success because of our personal experience, industry expertise, and the overwhelming support we have received up to this point. We have conducted extensive research from outside sources, received counsel from many professionals, and projected conservatively. We have earned the trust and support of many individuals through this process and hope that we will be able to earn yours too!
