I used to constantly struggle to keep with my goal of sustainably outfitting my wardrobe, because many of the curated stores I shopped at tailored to thin women, and vintage sizing is already often smaller than modern-sizing. When I'd go to larger thrift stores like Goodwill, it was so overwhelming finding pieces that I'd often give up. My mission is to make it easy for people to find that amazing vintage piece to add to their closet; something awesome in their size, that fits their style, all at an affordable price!
In our current society, many are trying to be intentional and sustainably-minded when shopping for clothing. Since most ethical clothing brands are expensive, they typically turn to thrifting or secondhand first. However, the process can be overwhelming and inaccessible - large-scale stores that offer affordable options don't always have online shops, and many curated shops focus solely on small and traditional sizing, and often up-sell items at a price that's unaffordable for many. It's especially hard for people who are outside the non-traditional size range, or those who don't dress in a way that falls under stereotyped gender norms.
Right now, working on my own, I am able to attend multiple markets a month around my full time day job, and see foot traffic anywhere from 100 to 1000 people over the course of a day. My social platforms (which I sell on) typically reach 700-800 a week and average 2000 to 5000 impressions weekly. I've recently begun selling on Shopify, but have been struggling to convert impressions and reach to the website without putting more money into advertising and more time into documenting my clothing for sale purposes.
Even with my small reach, I'm managing to fill a gap in the vintage market. My customers are excited to see styles that fit their bodies and personal styles without breaking the bank. I'm introducing folks to new fashion concepts and in turn they're telling their friends!
The reason I'm seeking funding is so I can work to expand my online marketplace and persona. I'd like to begin running advertisements on Facebook, Instagram, and Google, and successful advertisements can cost upwards of $400 a month. On top of that, I'd like to rent out studio space to take professional photos of my clothing, because my house isn't suited for high quality images. Those rentals can cost close to $500. A backing of $5000 would give me the ability to cover this for a couple months, pay for studio space and models, and see what difference it makes in my engagement.
Thank you to any and all who choose to take time to read my pitch and possibly back my project!
