Handmade Children’s Clothing and Toys

Did you know that more than 5% of our landfill space is textile waste from fast fashion pieces?

I launched The Blue Moose in 2016 with my “Grow With Me” clothing line to help parents save money AND reduce waste!  One Grow With Me piece replaces 3-5 traditional store bought pieces... per kid, and because they’re carefully handmade with the highest quality materials, they last to be passed to the next child.  

My Grow With Me clothing is designed with soft, stretchy fabric and longer, adjustable bands and cuffs that expand, scrunch, and fold to accommodate fast growing kids and fit though several traditional size changes.

Since then, I’ve grown and added other clothing styles, and learned doll and stuffed animal making. With my  Like Me Dolls, I’ve been able to create one of a kind dolls that represent medically complex and diverse kids - dolls with chemo ports, dolls with glucose monitors, dolls with scars and skin conditions.  If a parent has a request, I’ll find a way to make it happen!

I’ve had a slow growth as I had been doing everything from designing to the actual sewing myself, but I’ve built a community.  I’ve built a facebook group with nearly 2000 supporters of my business.  Things are picking up a lot more quickly in the last few months and I’ve been able to add a local seamstress to my team, a local mom who’s able to sew for me in her own home on her own schedule, and earn income while she cares for her child.  I look forward to employing more women and giving them the freedom of a job that fits well with parenting small children, as we continue to grow.

Why I need funding:

I’m struggling to produce at the rate my customers are shopping!  I need capitol to upgrade my machines to industrial sewing machines and fund bulk fabric purchases so I can afford to hire more sewing team members.  I am also hoping to purchase a laser cutter so I can add a line of educational wooden toys to my website.
