WHY WE STARTED

We live in a world where a great deal of Women Of Color struggle with their health and their well being – wether it is our mental health, fighting and preventing illnesses (sometimes even inherited in our DNA), the struggle with our nutrition, and our constant dilemma with what society tells us we should look like (from our bodies, to our skin color, to our hair texture). We even struggle with having healthy and open conversations about our sexual health. Women of Color struggle with embracing grounding spiritual practices, which were passed down from our ancestors, because society tells us that everything that does not fall under common norms is wrong.

Ultimately, we struggle to find trusted wellness experts that understand the nuances and challenges we face because the wellness industry does not elevate and amplify the voices of Black, Brown, Indigenous & Women Of Color in wellness.

These struggles are very real if you’re a Woman of Color, or belong to any other marginalized group.

But here’s the GOOD NEWS… we are finally changing the narrative!

Glow Wellness Tour was created for YOU. A health and wellness community, educational platform, and event series focused on decolonizing wellness, and making healing more accessible, and affordable to Women of Color from multi-cultural backgrounds (Latinas, African-American, Indigenous, and any other background that identifies with our cultures and specific needs).

Glow Wellness Tour was created to give you the solutions to these specific pain points, and to be a community like no other – one that will help YOU heal, and thrive.

HOW WE DO IT

We do this through our health & wellness classes & workshops, signature wellness events (virtual & in-person), private membership, and special fun digital activations.

OUR IMPACT

Through our work, we HAVE ALREADY IMPACTED AND CHANGED THE LIVES OF THOUSANDS OF WOMEN. 

WHY WE’RE RAISING MONEY

It is no secret that the pandemic has affected all of us. Glow Wellness Tour was forced to cancel all of our in-person events & classes which was the main way we stayed afloat financially.

So instead of giving up, we decided to pivot to a virtual tour, and here we are! Now is time to GROW, AND WE NEED YOUR HELP!

We are raising funds so we can:

• Continue our 2021 programming (events, classes & workshops) at little to no cost (a.k.a. FREE) for our community.
• Continue to fairly compensate the Black, Brown, Indigenous, and Women of Color wellness experts that we bring along for our classes and activations. BIWOC women in wellness are extremely underpaid, and more often than not, are only offered “exposure” for their work.
• Continue adapting our online presence and efforts after COVID19 forced us to adapt our in-person events, so we can continue our pivot to virtual/online.
• Create an online directory/database where our members can connect with BIWOC experts, in different holistic practices and wellness certifications that are a good fit based on their expertise, location, budget, and availability (virtual or in-person). This directory will also help you locate BIWOC women-owned wellness brands (think non-toxic skincare, makeup, apparel, food, wellness apps providers, wellness services, etc).

THIS IS THE FUTURE OF WELLNESS…. Inclusive, holistic, diverse, and driven by our own community.

WHAT’S CROWDFUNDING AND WHY WE’RE DOING IT

Crowdfunding is a method of raising capital through the collective effort of friends, family, customers, and individual supporters (that’s YOU!). 

We trusted iFundWomen, a crowdfunding platform, to support us in this journey to raise $40,000 by offering a selection of rewards you can purchase over the next 45 days to help us generate the revenue required to get the work done, and increase awareness of the powerful and impactful work we do here at Glow Wellness Tour!

OUR FOUNDER

Candy Calderon is the voice of a new generation! Certified Holistic Health & Wellness Coach. Proud Dominican, immigrant, Woman of Color with afro-indigenous Caribbean heritage. A fierce advocate for diversity and equity in wellness. With a background in Business and Tech, she also holds a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in Business. Candy’s work in wellness has been featured in NBC, Well+Good, Business Insider, Popsugar, Essence, People en Espanol, Telemundo, Univision, and has collaborated with brands like Siete, NOW Foods, American Heart Association, Aveeno, Daily Harvest, Logitech, NFL, etc.

She founded Glow Wellness Tour out of desperation from her painful family’s history with cancer, her own mental health, and her wellness struggles, and the lack of representation she experienced as a wellness professional. Her grandfather died of cancer, two aunts died of cancer, and her mother had breast cancer. She became obsessed with helping her mom heal not only from cancer but the effects of chemo. That’s when she learned about the healing powers of plants, and how a carefully curated wellness plan could not only prevent, but many times even reverse illnesses. Why weren't more people who looked like her, or from similar backgrounds having a voice in these conversations?

She struggled with finding holistic wellness experts that understood the challenges of communities of color, and so she created Glow Wellness Tour to fill this void and to help give a platform to Black, Brown, Indigenous & Women of Color (BIWOC) wellness experts.

Candy has earned her way to the frontlines of a wellness revolution at a time when change agents and disruptors have real influence and should bring visibility to the gap in health & wellness needs for women of color, as well as the lack of diversity in the space.
