Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women. Breast Cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death. Each year it is estimated that over 252,710 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,500 will die. On an average, every 2 minutes a woman diagnosed with breast cancer and 1 woman will die every 13 minutes. We are committed to eliminating breast cancer as a death sentence. Our goal is to spread the integrative care message to women all over America. We have provided over 500 women locally and nationally with beauty resources, support services, and educational programs at no charge. Our goal is to enhance the quality of life by promoting physical and emotional wellness.
We serve close to 500 individuals annually, ranging in age 18 to 60-plus. Participants are at different stages of treatment and maybe a pre or post survivor. Many have been turned away from other programs due to lack of funds, type of cancer, and the severity of their illness
GLAMCON offers women dealing with a breast cancer retreats several times a year. The retreats involve discussion, creative arts, and low impact physical activities, trust building workshops, yoga, tai chi, fashions shows, and more. These activities cannot be covered with insurance
We need capital support for us to provide retreats and assistance on a quarterly basis and not be limited to annual events. The funds we raise will allow us to hire staff and obtain the necessary technology to ensure that we reach breast cancer fighters and at any stage of their diagnosis. We will be able to provide printed material and update our website with digital content. We want to make sure that the next generation of survivors do not suffer the way we've seen in the past.
Like the beautiful women we serve, our mission is unique/ Like all women breast cancer survivors lead multi-faceted lives as wives, partners, mothers, daughters, employers, employees and volunteers, And while women survivors have all the same dreams and needs as other women the must also balance the game-changing challenges a cancer diagnosis presents. they face health and self-images issues as a result of their treatments. They face legal, financial and insurance issues as a result of medical care. They wonder if the disease that nearly took their life will return. while their disease sets them apart from others it also creates a sisterhood
