Project Description
Our mission is to help men better incorporate daily, constructive habits in their lives, starting with sunscreen.
The Problem is Complex
White men are more likely to develop skin cancer than any other cancer. The problem has only gotten worse over the last decade. However, wearing a daily moisturizer with broad spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or greater can reduce your odds of developing skin cancer by at least 40%.
So why has nothing changed?
Many men have told us that the products on the market are "too oily" "show up in their beards" or in the worst cases "they never knew they should be wearing sunscreen every day". That's why we (Dr. G and E, a mother-daughter duo) have teamed up to develop a lightweight, simple yet safe all-in-one moisturizing sunscreen, formulated with men in mind. We have brothers, fathers, sons (well, one of us) and we want to make sure that all men have the chance to be protected, EVERY DAMN DAY.

Our Team: The Perfect Duo
An accomplished Mohs Surgeon and business owner with 30+ years of experience partnering with her daughter, a Venture for America alumn, with experience in investing and marketing at Fortune 100 companies. For the last two years, the GETMr. team has interviewed hundreds of men and used these insights to craft and design a formula that they are confident men will want to use on a daily basis.
Your Support: The Raise
We think it is important for you to know what we have accomplished thus far for you to feel confident in supporting us in these next steps. In the last two years, we have interviewed hundreds of men, submitted our findings to medical journals for review, tested multiple iterations of our product on patients at Dr. Goldstein's practice, completed our FDA approvals and have just placed the first half of our initial purchase order. That means... we are gearing up to begin shipments of our orders in October. When you support GETMr., you are signing up for something bigger than just sunscreen, which is pretty fantastic in and of itself. Yes, you will be one of the very to try out the transforming formula, but you are also helping make this a reality. The funding will go towards fulfilling the first orders of our product, The Daily. Common Questions
Why do Men need to wear sunscreen daily?
- Technically, everyone should wear sunscreen daily. We are focused on men, because we have seen a gap in the market for a safe and effective, quality broad spectrum SPF product. Many men are more likely to develop skin cancer than all other cancers, yet, the solution is quite simple.
- Daily is a critical word. We broke it down into a few distinct reasons:
- Prevention - It's like brushing your teeth to not get cavities. It requires daily upkeep
- Habit Formation - If you worked out once a year, do you think come summer you'd be beach body ready? Likely not.
- Money - Sunscreen daily can save you time, and we all know, time is money. Time outside of the doctors office, time back with family, time not spent recovering or missing out on your favorite activities waiting for your scar to heal
- Those good looks - 90% of signs of aging (wrinkles, brown spots)are due to external factors (think blue light from your phone/ computer you're using now, pollution, the sun's UV rays). Whether behind your computer screen or out for a daily walk,
What will you do with the funding?
- We are using this crowdfunding as an opportunity to grow the awareness of the problem of skin cancer in men, accept pre-orders for our product, as well as help fund the shipment of the first few hundred units of our product
Is your product safe for kids?
- YES!!! We formulated the product to use only one active ingredient, Transparent Zinc Oxide. We have written about the considerations on some of the ingredients people should use in their products on our blog which you can find here: https://medium.com/@get.mr
Why is this not waterproof?
- We like this question a lot. Waterproof testing cost time and $$$. While we know this will be a key requirement for many of our athletes who want to use this product when they workout, we want to emphasize again that this is a daily product. Meaning, while you can use it for those sweaty soccer sessions (always loving alliterations), the breakthrough formula is best for your face, neck and ears on a daily - preferably post-shower/morning basis
