The Future of Goddess Council

Established in 2018, Goddess Council (GC) is a virtual/IRL wellness sanctuary and sisterhood for all women seeking deep connections, new friendships, healing, and joy! Our mission is to promote social wellness by bringing women together in meaningful and authentic ways.

At GC we are well aware of how hard it can be to make new healthy and expansive friendships as adults, but we’re committed to solving this issue for all of our members and community at large! Our founder, Cat Lantigua, launched this collective as an attempt to make friends after moving to NYC dealing with the impacts of loneliness and depression. She realized how difficult life was going to be to live in such a big city without friends, so she launched a potluck series from her apartment that eventually blossomed into the global community Goddess Council is now!

The millennial generation has been deemed the loneliest generation with 22% of millennials reporting that they have no friends. The rise of internet access and social media has been linked to higher rates of loneliness and isolation for people hyper-connected in the digital era. 

• There is robust evidence that social isolation and loneliness significantly increase risk for premature mortality

• Poor social relationships were associated with a 29 percent increase in risk of coronary heart disease and a 32 percent rise in the risk of stroke

• According to a 2018 national survey by Cigna, loneliness levels have reached an all-time high, with nearly half of 20,000 U.S. adults reporting they sometimes or always feel alone

• According to a survey led by YouGov, 30 percent, Millennials were the most likely age cohort to say they felt lonely "often" or "always." 

• Millennials who use both social media and the internet more frequently than their elders

There are millions of millennial women seeking deep bonds and heart-centered spaces. While our membership will be capped at 350 members to preserve the intimacy of our tight knit sisterhood, our long-term vision is to offer free social enhancing tools, lead public panels, and activate IRL experiences to enhance social wellness.

We are seeking funding to reach 4 main goals

• To launch a scholarship fund to provide free memberships specifically dedicated to students and women facing financial difficulties

• Begin the process of planning our first-ever IRL wellness retreat

• Expand our editorial efforts by creating and sharing educational content centered around the importance of sisterhood, self-care, and social wellness via a free public podcast, monthly newsletter, and written material that we’ll be sharing on our blog

• Continue compensating our team and create opportunities for us to hire the help needed to bring everything previously mentioned to life
