Publishing stories of Leadership and creating teaching modules to accompany each book!
Could a group of 13 year old girls become the role models we have all been waiting for? Could they give girls all around the world a place to look and be inspired about leadership in a realistic and powerful way? If I have anything to do with it, you better believe it!!
Hello! My name is Allexia and I am the author of Monadiki, The Goddess of Fierce Leadership!
Let's talk about something here. Conformity, Following. Wait, what? From someone writing leadership stories? Yes. First moms, let me say this. IT'S NORMAL for your girls to FOLLOW!! Exhale. :)
It's human nature, it's part of our own evolution. You did it, I did it, we all do it and will always do it but there is a point in this journey where things get sticky. At some point, our girls will question conforming. This is natural as well. They won't want to, won't like this or that, will decide that what the group is doing is not for them. THIS is where I meet girls on their journey. It's at these crossroads where poor decisions can be avoided or where girls are not confident enough to make a different choice. This is the place that terrifies parents, where sleepless nights take over and turn into nightmares.
Standing out and up for yourself, starting to find independence in a crowd is NOT EASY. I've done it all my life. It's not easy at all. For those of us supporting this process with our girls, and for many, it's the leader within her starting to expand so being able to give her resources and communities of other girls walking the same walk is KEY. She must know she's not alone, that others are experiencing all of this change right along with her and that it's perfectly normal to feel what she's feeling about it. Because you know what? The "group" is going to tell her she's weird, she may be bullied, laughed at, made fun of, talked about. She will feel ostracized, fearful and totally begin doubt herself, and this is where, RIGHT HERE, she slips back into the crowd because it's easier, and for many, they stay there the rest of their lives. Many of you moms are nodding. YES? Yes. The thought of this happening to our girls is almost unbearable to think about.
Let's be there for her, right here, at that crossroads. Let's support her with conversations together with other girls and their moms. Let's give her friends to call and reach out to when the going gets tough. Let's give her books and magazines that fill her with a like minded spirit. Let's help her take her first steps of independence. Let's inspire and empower her and let's empower teachers, facilitators, business owners and group leaders to start teaching a leadership module in their current offerings, reaching more and more girls where they already are!
Real talk, real conversations. Tools. These books are going to be filled with dialogues and conflict resolution and introduce diverse characters with unique individuality, a strong awareness to the world around them and a powerful sense of working together in a group. And these characters will discuss their fears, their struggles and express to us that it's not always easy to step out and be yourself but they do it anyway. Wouldn't we be happy if our girls could do this? Isn't this the ultimate goal of what we want for our children? As a mom of 3 girls, I know it is for me. It is my hope that these characters become part of her family. Take action today! It's never too early or too late. xoxo
"Peer conformity will continuously happen among young adolescents, but we must teach our younger generation that it’s important to express and form our own individual identity. We must also teach them that they don’t always have to follow the crowd because if they do, they will usually go no further than the crowd." September 18, 2015 in socy391Fall2015.
"I read this with my girls (10 and 5) and we all loved it. My girls immediately recognized the pattern of making themselves less to fit in more and I realized that even I still minimize myself to make others more comfortable. This was an amazing story of learning to learn to love yourself no matter what. We can't wait to go fiercely into the world and be unapologetically ourselves. We eagerly await more from the author. You rock, Allexia!" 5 star review on Amazon
"I think the reward for conformity is that everyone likes you... except for yourself." Rita Mae Brown
WHO IS MONADIKI?
Monadiki is a 13 year old greek girl born into a world of gods and goddesses, who goes through the common struggles of growing up. Her parents know there is greatness in her, but Monadiki can only see one thing, she is different from all of the other little goddesses. Monadiki doesn't like eating lamb or wearing white togas and gladiator sandals, but she feels fitting in is the only way to her happiness- until she realizes that what makes her different is exactly what makes her special and now, Monadiki is ready for new adventures, new friends and new lessons of leadership to share!! I need your help to make this needed series a reality!
This is by far the best book for little girls I've seen. I can't wait for my granddaughter to be old enough to read. Top quality book and binding, art is very beautiful, and the message amazing. Bravo Allexia Brewer, and thank you for bringing to life an inspiring heroine for our little girls! 5 Star review on Amazon
Here's a fun video since I'm also asked a ton, "How did Monadiki get her name?" Here's a short video to explain! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fn3bx3AHpgE-
