Tilly by KW is an all white clothing line created by myself through my late mother's style and guidance through life. It is a representation of her life and beauty. She loved to wear white, which is the main source of inspiration for this line.
My mother passed away on November 8, 2019 from triple negative breast cancer at the age of 49. In her honor, I have a donor box on my website with proceeds being donated toward Breast Cancer Awareness. Tilly by KW also plans to host a fundraiser every October for Breast Cancer Awareness.
With my platform, I aim to have conversations with women of color about what I learned about breast cancer while taking care of my mother. I want to spread more awareness to women about how important it is to get checked every 6 to 12 months.
Triple negative breast cancer is found more in POC women and is also the most fatal type of breast cancer. I will use this platform to generate money for a cause while grieving through the pain. Continuing to fight for this cause cannot bring my mother back to me, but it will hopefully help women and families avoid loss from this uncontrollable disease in the future.
Although the market of clothing can be hard to enter, I feel an all white clothing line will be special. At all times, you have access to pure white clothing that sometimes is difficult to find. My products will be accessible to women who love white, but also, the women who love what I am creating myself. Then, come October, all of my pieces will be available in pink.
I am seeking this generous donation because creating clothing has become extremely expensive. I hand picked all the material and sketched each piece myself. I am trying to create pieces for everyone to love and create enough for everyone to have. Although this is my brand, I have a great team of family and friends who have helped me in any way they could; from creating my online store, to taking my pictures and helping me sketch every piece that has come to mind.
I am grateful to everyone who has helped and supported thus far, and I want to thank you in advance for taking part in my journey. My mother was a special woman and this line will keep her legacy alive. I see her signature everyday as my logo and I don't think of her as not being with me anymore. Instead, I think of how amazing she is because I am doing something through her, Tilly, everyday.
