Project Description

  • Control Alt Delete helps people escape domestic violence by removing the barriers that keep them in those unsafe situations by providing one time assistance that allows them to flee. By bridging a gap in services we are creating a Society of Survivors; one escape at a time.
  • 1 in 4 women are in abusive relationships right now, with no means to escape. 99% of all Control Alt Delete escapes have been financially abused and although they know they need to escape they just do not have access to the funds to flee. Control Alt Delete will help anyone with the need to escape flee but our largest population served is women with children and pets and the average escape unit is 1 adult woman, 3 children and 1 pet.
  • According to victim advocates, the prosecutor offices, first responders and crisis response teams we receive referrals from, we are the only agency to provide immediate assistance in the most vulnerable and critical moment; as Survivors escape.  Control Alt Delete is available 24/7 365 to facilitate escapes and although we are based in Arizona have helped in 23 other states because we are the only agency with the ability to help escapes crossing city to city, county to county and state to state boarders.
  • Control Alt Delete helps Survivors in 4 key ways. Transportation: gas cards, cab & ride share rides, bus tickets. Lodging: up to 2 nights in a hotel. Food & Necessities: hygiene items and essentials, grocery assistance. Security: home and personal security measures like new door locks and Safety Kits.
    • Transportation - 99% of Control Alt Delete escapes are financially abused. Many have a vehicle but no money for fuel. We send gas cards electronically to they have available funds in minutes. The same for cab or ride share rides. We also pay for bus tickets for escapes when people flee to other states. This has been a game changer for shelter services. By getting Survivors to their support network we are freeing up shelter space for Survivors that do not have that type of support.
    • Lodging - there are times when shelters are full or a Survivor needs a safe place to stay until an order of protection has been served. We help with up to 2 nights in a hotel. Many of the local shelters, heavily funded shelters) come to Control Alt Delete when they do not have space for Survivors on their waitlist.
    • Food & Necessities - every escape gets a BIN Bin which is a basket full of hygiene items and essentials - basic immediate need items. These baskets allow the Survivors dignity in not having to ask for necessities. Grocery assistance is one of the largest requested services for senior citizen escapes. These escapes are especially heartbreaking as the abuser is often an adult child, grand or even great-grandchild who physically abuse the Survivor and empty their bank accounts leaving them with no money for food until their next fixed income payment comes in.
    • Security - Control Alt Delete will change the locks on Survivor homes once an order of protection has been served helping make sure the abuser cannot just use a key and walk back into the home. We also provide video camera systems so that Survivors can monitor their surroundings and send video clips to police when those orders of protection have been broken. Every escape receives a Control Alt Delete Safety Kit that includes personal body alarms for each family member, pepper spray, window locks, a flash drive, door stop alarms, motion sensing light bulbs and more.
  • Control Alt Delete is 100% volunteer run with zero administrative or overhead expense to the agency. We are not state or federally funded which allows us to facilitate escapes that other agencies are not able to assist with.  Because we are volunteer run with no administrative expenses $1 of every single dollar goes directly to helping people escape abuse.
    • Here is the thing....Since being founded on 9/2/2019 as of today 4/18/2022 Control Alt Delete as of has facilitated 5,561 escapes from domestic violence that have included 10,928 children all of whom are now safe. When I founded this agency I knew there was a need; I did not know how great that need would be.
  • Control Alt Delete has a diverse group of board members from a young 20 year old that helps us best understand the struggles of LGBTQ to a Hispanic senior citizen who guides us in cultural competency. Our Vice President is a brilliant woman of color and our treasurer is Native American, giving insight into the 1 in 2 tribal women who are currently in domestic violence situations. One board member has a sister that was murdered by her abuser so she shares that first hand knowledge.

You have the chance to save lives by supporting Control Alt Delete. You may never meet the Survivors your contributions help but they will never forget you; their hero.

Together we can create a Society of Survivors.
