The Pearl Club has a mission to educate, empower and support young women to overcome poverty by fostering advanced educational pursuits.
Project Description
Let's face it, the only way to overcome poverty is by earning a college degree. In fact, in less than 3 years. 70 percent of jobs will require a college degree. In order for us to end generational poverty, we need more young women earning college degrees. For that reason, we have dedicated our efforts to providing young women with 7-years of:
- long-term mentoring
- skill-based enrichment
- intentional college preparation and success
- academic planning and career readiness
- Up to $1000 emergency financial assistance
We recognize that compared to women with lower levels of education, young women that become women with higher levels of education are more likely to build and maintain stable, progressive, healthier, happier and wealthier lives for themselves and their families.
It is our goal that young women have a chance to change the trajectory of their lives by earning a college degree and making their future a reality. At some point, the cycle has to end. And, with your help, it will.

The Campaign FAQs
What are our goals?
- 90 percent of participants demonstrated preparedness to succeed in and graduate from college
- 100 percent of participants are admitted into at least one postsecondary institution
- 90 percent of students transition to college in the fall, complete one year and successfully enter their sophomore year of college
- 80 percent of students graduate from college within 4 years
How do we select students?
- have a serious interest in higher education
- are considered low-income students
- demonstrate the ability to make and keep commitments
- have at least 2.5 grade point average (some exceptions)
- have demonstrated potential to succeed but will need additional supportive services
How do we recruit students?
- We partner with high schools and nonprofit organizations to select a group of students to participate in an interest meeting
- The Pearl Club will host an interest meeting
- Students will submit an application and schedule an in-person interview
- Students receive their selection decision and sessions begin in January
This reward allows us to provide 2 hours of mentoring to 15 students.
This reward allows us to provide a pre-college summer workshop for 15 students giving them the tools and information to start their freshman year of college strong.
This reward allows us to provide one month of mentoring and enrichment for 15 young women.
This reward allows us to provide one year of enrichment to one young woman or provide emergency financial assistance to one young woman.
