Hi, I’m Dr. Deborah Fuqua, and I’m the CEO at Dr. D’s Leadership Corner. Our mission is to deliver a training and development curriculum designed to assist with enhancing knowledge, developing skills and with increasing individual and organizational productivity and enrichment.
Here's the problem: Women are underrepresented in leadership type roles/positions at businesses and companies across the United States. A 2017 Women in the Workplace study revealed that women are 18 percent less likely to be promoted into leadership roles verses their male peers. According to Pew research center in 2018, “Americans say they would like to see more women in top leadership positions.” This campaign will provide leadership training opportunities for women who wants to advance in their careers.
The current campaign “Developing Women Leaders” is with the intent to reach more women in the underrepresented business leadership related roles/fields by providing face-to-face leadership training giving them the tools and skills needed to become more effective leaders and to also become top leaders in their workplaces.
Dr. D’s Leadership Corner provides solutions to workplace challenges by providing to attendees information about leadership reflection, effective leadership style approaches, the importance of practicing positive ethical behavior, conflict resolution, how to lead diversity, team building, mentoring, coaching, how to motivate others, how to communicate effectively, emotional intelligence, etc. This training is for women and men. However, we have custom design curriculum aimed to assist with the training needs of companies/businesses: solving workplace problems. This specific leadership training for women will empower women and give them the confidence needed to compete with their male counterparts in the marketplace.
My customers are people who want to advance in their careers. Market size: targeted for women in the Washington D.C., Maryland, VA, and South Carolina areas, hoping to expand to other states within a year. We see ourselves expanding from our 11 member training team to at least a 50 member team by the end of 2020, with a possibility of opening other branches across the U.S. Our current team is consisted of college professors, HR experts, leaders from corporate America and program managers, who are experienced in the field of leadership, to include human resource development.
I have been working in the Workforce Development field for 20 years. I have a doctorate’s degree in organizational leadership. I am certified in Diversity & Inclusion, Special Emphasis Program Manager, Workers’ Compensation, Classroom Management (Time to Teach), and Four Lenses. These certifications align directly to our curriculum, providing a more in-depth classroom experience. Because I am a woman, I understand the challenges that women face on a daily basis: not getting promotions or advancements. I am uniquely qualified to help solve this problem for our female customers.
I am raising money on iFundWomen to help with hiring a marketing team. This team will strategize ways to promote the training via face-to-face, social media platforms, securing venues, etc. The funds will also be used for purchasing classroom manuals, office equipment, and covering expenses for business related travel.
Dr. D's Leadership Corner will award an autograph copy of Dr. Fuqua's book, "Secure Your Cape" A Women's Motivational Leadership book, for a donation of $25 or more.
