Curl Power

Hi my name is Cheraka but everyone calls me Cher. My company’s name is Cher Behind The Chair and I specialize in natural curly hair styling, Coloring, maintenance, overall hair and scalp health. I service all ages, races and all textures helping them find the beauty in their own hair and texture while also building a foundational relationship and trust with them to help them not only make the right decisions when it comes to what they use on their hair and how to actually use it. Something most curly people were never taught when they were younger. The products that I prescribed to them help with their scalp, frizz, moisture problems and many more. I want to grow my business into a natural curly hair cosmetology school that you can get license through the state with something that has never been done. I am uniquely qualified for this because I not only have the patience to teach but it is also one of my passions to give back to the community not only from behind the chair but in front of it. We have to build the future. Over 60% of the world has curly hair but only 10% of cosmetology school education is about curly hair. We have to change the narrative to represent what we look like as a world and I want to do that by starting a school, but I need funding and help to make this possible and would love if I was granted this grant to make that possible. To give up-and-coming and existing Stylist education to help them not only build their careers but to help the people that sit in their chair.
