Project Description
Claim Your Roots was developed with the goal of empowering women and girls through teaching them foundational premises of caring for their curly or naturally-textured hair. Sisters and Founders Kinsey Egan-McGee and Brenna Leslie saw themselves in young girls who felt proud of their curls but struggled to find support in managing it as well as older girls and women who chose to embrace their natural textures but didn’t know where to begin. The need coupled with the sisters’ passion for bringing this much-needed service to others brought about the creation of Claim Your Roots!
There are 108 million females of color with textured hair in the US that make up $2.5 billion and are still severely underserved and underrepresented in the hair care industry. The inequity and lack of individualized services can lead to over-researching and overspending, and may result in a contentious relationship with natural or textured hair. Claim Your Roots is a virtual hair care consultation service created to assist females in learning and feeling confident in managing their own curly or textured hair. We’ve partnered with licensed hair consultants to help create individualized plans to help clients care for and style their hair from the comfort of their own homes.
Mission
Our mission is to educate and empower females of color with textured hair through a virtual hair care platform.
We are teaching women, teens, and parents with young girls to love and understand how to maintain and style textured hair through live, virtual hair consultations. Our licensed, dedicated professionals will guide the customer through a curriculum-based course to educate them on their or their child’s textured hair. This is a revolutionary experience supplementing the work of one’s hair stylist, or lack thereof. Membership to the Claim Your Roots (“CYR”) community and consultations can be purchased online.
We are a one-stop shop for you to get individualized hair care education.
No travel. No research. No astronomical prices. No wasted time.
With your support, we can build this much needed community and offer services to change the lives of millions! Funds will go towards marketing, hiring licensed hair care professionals, expanding our team, and administrative and operational costs.

Of course! If you have a child, family member, friend, or someone else you'd like to gift our services to, they'd love you for it!

All customers must become members first through our website so you can get access to our educational freebies and community support. Once a member, you can book an all-inclusive package.
