Maison Soleil is getting physical! We're planning on opening a storefront- but we need your help!

Our Vision: To create sustainable jobs for women all over the world so that the world is better, more ethical place to live.
Maison Soleil’s target customers are educated, eco-friendly consumers who want to make the world a better place for future generations. They want quality products but not at the cost of the environment or at the risk of life. In many of my retail pop-ups, customers ask if Maison Soleil has a physical store, indicating that the customer wants to see more of what we have to offer. As consumers are becoming more aware of the social responsibility of the products they consume and the companies they support, Maison Soleil is on the forefront of that revolution.
Opening a physical location would grant Maison Soleil the opportunity to provide more products to meet its customers’ demand. The company’s products currently support fair trade practices, fighting human trafficking, and helping those who live in oppressed environments or poverty. Not only would opening a physical location help Maison Soleil better serve its customers, but it would help save thousands of lives around the world by creating jobs in fair trade factories with every order we place with fair trade suppliers.
The Hampton Roads area is home to the military, a well-known tourist location, many music venues, and 9 independent cities-- but not a fair trade store. Maison Soleil seeks to be the first fair trade store in the major economic center that is the Hampton Roads. Filled with many families and educated young folks, Maison Soleil is looking to start a community space for those who are forward thinking about people and environment.
Any funds received would go directly into the business. We would use the funds to help build out the storefront and help cover cost of outfitting the space with furniture, lighting, and other fixtures such as mannequins. We would also use the funds to add signage and create dressing rooms for trying on clothes. Any remaining funds would assist in advertising and paying for business expenses such as rent, utilities, etc.

- How do the artisans get paid?
- Artisans are paid upfront by the organizations with partner with, which are all fair trade certified or small one-person artisan groups. We buy wholesale, pay up front or on Net 60 terms, the artisans are paid on a regular basis.
- How do I know the products are certified fair trade?
- We only work with organizations recognized by the Fair Trade Federation. They impose a rigorous process to become fair trade certified or a fair trade member. We intend to become a member ourselves in the future.
