It's time for an authentic long-running show of the music of Joni Mitchell performed by Hannah Reimann and friends.
Project Description
This campaign is the exciting start to bringing Both Sides Now to larger audiences via a live theater show and for online viewing including virtual reality presentations. We plan to have the flexible alternative of online viewing regularly available during the campaign launch and moving forward.
This $25,000 seed money from the campaign will be used for STEP 1: a small performance by invitation in Los Angeles for industry, potential collaborators and supporters.

Why I'm Crowdfunding:
- This show aims to share the important musical work of Joni Mitchell with large audiences on stages everywhere by creating a performance-based theater show including many of her great songs from 1966-1974, and select songs written after 1974.
- Although famous throughout the world, there are plenty of people who don't know Joni's songs because she doesn't perform anymore. Like the musical, "Beautiful," did for Carole King, popularizing her songs for a young and new demographic, a theater presentation of Joni's music would spread awareness about her work.
What We're Going to Do
- Step 1: This campaign will fund the production of an industry showcase in Los Angeles where Joni lives and has a major following
- Step 2: Financing for a workshopping in either a small Off-Broadway theater in New York or another location, attracting in-person crowds of 10-50 people plus an online opportunity for viewers everywhere in attendance at each performance.
- Step 3: We would advance to a larger theater at the right time with the goal to be on Broadway.
Why We've Decided to Pursue this Campaign and Future Goals
- "Both Sides Now," created by Hannah Reimann Innovations, Inc. and Hannah has been in clubs, theaters and concert halls in four states for 8 years, including its earlier incarnation, "Woman of Heart and Mind."
- Since its inception, audiences have encouraged Hannah to create a long-running theater show and to seek funding to bring it to Broadway. From one-woman shows, to nine people on stage for a celebration of Joni's 70th birthday and more, more than a dozen pro musicians have participated in performing this show with her.
- We are seeking funding because the amount needed cannot be bankrolled by us and we believe this is a legitimately worthy cause and great music worth listening to live! We intend to put all the nuts and bolts of a show together with a director including hiring collaborating musicians, crew, to rent a theater and anything else needed to create a long-running show.
Other Things We're Excited About
- Hit-maker Peter Rafelson, is now producing Hannah's upcoming EP of original songs. Guitarist Michele Temple (Pere Ubu) has been with the project since its inception in August 2012, along with other accompanying NYC musicians who join for larger shows in different combinations.
- We are most grateful for the help and camaraderie of our supporters, show attendees and donors! Having this music in common has created a community for us like no other we've known, a "soul" connection of forward thinking people who wish to preserve the planet, care about equality, freedom and the artistic spirit.

- What is the mission? To carry the torch of Joni Mitchell's music in live performance, performers all over the world have been singing her songs with increasing frequency. As part of this movement and to create a show with the distinct aim to do the songs as Joni did, in the same keys, arrangements and with as close a vibe to the studio and live concert recordings that her fans worldwide love. We aspire to create a true and authentic "Joni Mitchell experience "which can be featured as a long-running stage show.
- Who is Hannah Reimann? Born in New York to Korean and German parents, Hannah first sang publicly at age 2, began playing piano at age 5 and joined rock bands as a young teen. She worked with teachers from the Juilliard School as a teen; her focus on Classical music led to numerous piano recitals and learning to arrange and compose instrumental music. She has performed internationally since her teenage years when she was both lead singer for the punk band "Kikigurushii" in Kyoto, Japan and concert pianist in the United States

CNN presented Miss Reimann and Grammy-nominated violist Paul Coletti's performances and arrangements of Astor Piazzolla via live broadcast from the Argentine Consulate General; their live performances were also heard internationally. Venues include Lincoln Center, the Bitter End, Knitting Factory, Cutting Room, Grand Canyon Music Festival, Bargemusic and many others for her work as a piano soloist, chamber musician, singer-songwriter and rock musician including accordion with the all-female Main Squeeze Accordion Orchestra, keys and vocals with the indie Rock bands Last Tango, Loaded Dreams, and various other local New York ensembles.
Her CD "First Songs," introduced her “Extraordinary voice” (XM Satellite Radio) and songwriting “a beautiful CD from a beautiful soul.“ (Jim Brenholts, AllMusic.com).

As a filmmaker, she has created her own music videos since 1996. Her first short film, “Destroying Angel,” was shown at the Long Island International Film Expo and the New Jersey Film Festival in 2011 and 2012.
As a film actor, Hannah has appeared in over 20 independent films including the award-winning "The Wounded & the Slain" and “Things I Don’t Understand.”
Theater credits include Musical Director and vocal soloist for two sold-out runs of "American Clock" (Arthur Miller, dir. Austin Pendleton), composer for "The Quick Change Room" (Nagel Jackson), and "A Chorus Girl" by Anton Chekhov, all at New York's HB Playwright's Theater. She attended HB Studio to work with Austin Pendleton, who is featured as an actor in her movie, My Father’s House.
Her teaching studios in New York City and New Jersey for aspiring singers and pianists spans, like her own repertoire, from Classical to Jazz, Pop, R&B, Broadway, Singer-songwriter and Rock. Her young students have landed Principal roles in Disney's "Mary Poppins,” Broadway "The Boy from Oz," and Off-Broadway “South Pacific,” among many other productions. She is currently at work writing her first instructional books for student pianists and singers.

Hannah Reimann aka Häna has written on commission since the 1990's for live shows, movies, stage productions and co-writers including a showcase at Lincoln Center ("Angeli"), HB Playwright's Theater ("The Quick Change Room"), The Cutting Room Floor (eponymous motion picture theme and original song), with multi-album Universal recording artist co-writer Go Astaburuaga Allen aka GO and talented amateurs who want to turn their poems and lyrics into songs as a hired composer. She wrote "I Have a Dream" after studying Martin Luther King Jr.'s speech and was granted copyright for lyrics and music for this original song, written for an Obama fundraiser in 2008. She composed the original score for her first documentary film, "My Father's House, a Journey of Love and Memory."
If you would like to hear your lyrics turned into a song, this reward is for you. There are no guarantees that Häna can use the lyrics exactly as they are, so this reward includes allowing her to have poetic license to alter words so that they rhyme, follow a clear meter and other musical applications.
