Black Trans Owned Spa Startup Support

Hi! My name is Brookelyn! I’m a North Louisiana native turned Houstonian! And I’m setting up this campaign in support of my journey as a small business owner, with hopes of thriving and achieving everything I’ve planned on paper for the next ten years! It’s taken me a few years to become as driven and goal oriented as I am now after being all over the place in the beauty world from my own personal battles and trials with my skin and skincare, to being a freelance makeup artist, and then working in skincare where I met that feeling that business owners describe when you have became overcome with a sense of purpose that can only be met on the journey of entrepreneurship.

During the pandemic, I got inspired to take my first steps so I recently started and achieved my first level of Laser Technician certification as pictured in my cover photo! There are four levels in total. This campaign is necessary because after achieving the fourth level certification I will be a professional licensed laser technician that can practice independently. 

My goal is the minimum amount necessary for startup of a boutique skin spa. The most important part to the startup is for the laser machine. I will be using a Candela GentleMaxPro which averages around $48k and ranges from 54-65k. This particular laser machine can serve all skin types I-VI (fair white to deep dark) so it is the best option for me operating independently. Being that I have personally undergone laser treatments, my passion for a boutique spa comes from my overprotective nature due to a few scary experiences being the person receiving the laser treatment. Luckily, my current technician of the past 2 years has made the few bad experiences just that, experiences. There are many women who suffer from PCOS, transwomen who suffer from the insecurity of hair growth in unwanted places, and men who suffer from uncomfortable ingrown hairs and excess hair growth who are unaware there are solutions to their misfortune aside from shaving. 

In 5 years, I see myself providing certifications in the field while having multiple locations across this large city, and in 10 years owning a franchise that gives space to other skin care entrepreneurs to start their journey, and in return serves as a one-stop shop for skincare needs with a salon atmosphere that caters to every aspect of the skin and skincare.
