Project Description

OUR STORY & MISSION

Originally launched in 2020 as a stand alone digital directory—pinpointing Black-owned businesses, globally— Got Blacklisted is a Black-owned, female-led creative hub that now spotlights Black artists, entrepreneurs and entertainers. It is a safe space for creatives who— for far too long—have been oppressed, marginalized, tokenized and exploited for profit.

We provide resources, cultivate communities and create genuine opportunities in the 757 for Black artists and entrepreneurs to thrive sustainably, both online and in real life. Through both our public and private events we aim to be the pioneers of immediate change, rebuilding a more inclusive world while advancing racial equity.

Got Blacklisted reaches an untapped market because we do the real grassroots work going from business to business, figuring out what Black artists need. We create all of our own events from ideation to execution providing the Black community with opportunities they would have been denied elsewhere. We have lost hope in investors as a majority of them just want equity and could care less about enacting real change. So we heavily rely on Black Community Investment and financial support from anti-racist allies.

OUR NEEDS

We are seeking funding to sustain our monthly Black Theatre event so we can better support our artists and entertainers in a safe environment. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic cancelling in-person events many artists and Black-owned businesses suffered, losing multiple streams of revenue. The COVID-19 pandemic, onto of continuous acts of racial injustice and inequality forced a lot of Black community members to become despondent, hopeless and left many artists directionless. Black Theatre is entirely self-funded and we created this event to provide paid opportunities for Black artists, entertainers and entrepreneurs to thrive in an upscale physical safe space. This event collaborates with Black-owned venues and the funding would be used to pay: entertainers, venue fees, rentals, staff, marketing & communications, photography/videography, PR, food & beverages.

OUR TEAM

Got Blacklisted is the work of Diane Wesh, a creative visionary,  community leader, art & entertainment director. Graduate of Regent University School of Law, Wesh left Corporate America to focus her time and energy on elevating Black art and serving her community.

For a majority of our public and private events we invest in staff that consists predominantly of Black women, giving them senior level titles ( which we’re typically denied from obtaining) and the coins they deserve.

OUR GOAL

With your support we can sustain this event for at least three more months, providing paid opportunities for Black artists & entertainers ( while we continue to look for sponsors). Your contributions will also benefit the Black community, allowing them to have a physic

al safe space to look forward to being in which lifts their spirits and allows them to laugh, dance and experience joy in this tumultuous time we’re living in.

Thank you for choosing to support us!
