bare- (of a person or part of the body) not clothed or covered.

reverie- a state of being pleasantly lost in one’s thoughts; a daydream.

This company is named bare reverie because I believe we should treasure one of the most incredible creations on this earth, our bodies. Being that our bodies were created from this earth, why shouldn’t our clothes be?

The production of our garments happens in the very city we design them in by partnering with responsible manufactures using sustainable fabrics. This not only makes for closer watch over how they are being made, but also produces more work opportunities in our community and is less wasteful in shipping, cost, and energy. The fabrics we use have a natural origin; think cotton, hemp, silk…

So much of our consumption of clothing is sitting in huge piles in third world countries around the globe. They will sit there for decades and not decompose because of all of the synthetic fabrics we have used since the beginning of time. I want to make sure I do my tiny part in providing an option that will not only be good for myself and others, but for our world and the countries who have to deal with the results of consumer madness. As a black woman, especially one whose origins come from Haiti, I see how fast fashion consumerism mostly impacts countries of the African diaspora. To be able to make a difference in this area through the sustainable space is meaningful and impactful work.

Product + Service

Each collection is inspired by someone's walk in this life that has impacted those around them in various ways. The product is the gateway in the business in which all other services we offer flow from. Giving back is very important to me and our sewing classes have made the biggest impact on our local community compared to the other services we offer. Seeing women come together to learn a new skill and create relationships with each other has been my biggest joy in business. I have been able to witness the looks on their faces when they've seen projects through to completion and realizing they have the ability to use this skill for anything they desire. We definitely want to keep these classes going as this could in turn provide further opportunities for those who want this as a hobby or to turn it into a business of their own.

Forward Thinking

The pandemic caused by COVID-19 has definitely impacted the business. 2020 was projected to be our best financial year in business yet, but we ended up with some of the lowest months since launching. Sewing classes had to pause because of social distancing, several launches were rescheduled, and alteration sessions have been introduced to several new safety procedures. As difficult as this time has been, we've decided to use this time to refocus on the business's offerings. Along with our products, we have been offering face masks in our shop which people have been on board for. We are in the process of developing virtual sewing classes and once things start to settle we will be hosting intimate sewing workshops where people can make their own lingerie. As a woman who runs the business myself, I am thankful for the manufacturers, social media curator, and photographer I partner with to make this all possible. Bare Reverie, after COVID-19, is looking forward to all of the new opportunities being developed, but, of course, your contribution is a great help in making them happen.
