Allow us the freedom to create

Laelia Botanica is the wellness branch of my larger vision, Laelia, an art collective & community center through which I seek to offer creative courses & free childcare to Chicago's youth. I've grown up in a city where the youth, including myself, is talented beyond belief, but oftentimes too focused on survival to create. Additionally, the parents of these children, especially if they are under 25, also find themselves uninspired because they are focused solely on survival & the short-term. This prevents Black & brown Chicagoans from thriving in this world the way we deserve.

In order to work through creative blocks & feel impassioned about life, I believe Black & brown people need community care & encouragement to use their imaginations so that we can, together, visualize a city we would like to live in.

Through Laelia Botanica, I offer individualized, consultation-based wellness services, such as (but not limited to) tarot readings & conflict mediation. My services are free to parents under 25 & can be sliding scale upon request. I also accept bartering as a form of payment.

For a while, I found myself fatigued, especially when I worked in education, because I knew I had the power & the personality to help people out of ruts, but I didn't have the self belief to make a business out of my abilities. Laelia Botanica is the fruition of that realization. In the future, Laelia itself will be the fruition of other people's belief in me & my vision.
