Project Description

Mission

The 2025 1Million Women In RPA Initiative is a skills development program, aimed at training and up-skilling a million African women in Robotics Process Automation (RPA) and Intelligent Automation by 2025.

Our goal is to help increase representation & leadership for African women in Intelligent Automation, as well as alleviate unemployment across Africa.

Problem

Despite decades of progress towards achieving equality in the workplace, women remain significantly under-represented in emerging tech. The imbalance between men and women in the technology sector is unlikely to be remedied unless organizations, schools and universities work together to change entrenched perceptions about the tech industry, and also educate young people about the dynamics and range of careers in the technology world.

Women currently hold 19% of tech-related jobs at the top 10 global tech companies, relative to men who hold 81%. In leadership positions at these global tech giants, women make up 28%, with men representing 72%.

We want to change this!

Solution

* Expose African women to Future of Work skills and career opportunities through Intelligent Automation training and skills development.

* Get women qualified in Intelligent Automation

* Help women gain access to global Intelligent Automation employment opportunities

Achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 5 and 8.

1. GOAL 5: Gender Equality

Increasing leadership and representation for African women in RPA/Intelligent Automation.

2. GOAL 8: Decent work and Economic Growth

Global Robotics Process Automation (RPA) software revenue is projected to reach $1.89 billion in 2021, an increase of 19.5% from 2020, according to the latest forecast from Gartner, Inc.

This staggering growth continues to yield employment opportunities, which through our training, women can have fair chance and access to.

Our commitment to prepare African women for the Future of Work through Intelligent Automation training is a proactive initiative to ensure that the above Sustainable Development Goals are met.

Market Size/Opportunity

Robotics Process Automation Software Revenue to reach nearly $2 Billion in 2021

RPA Market Forecast to Grow at Double-Digit Rates Through 2024 Despite Economic Pressures from COVID-19.

Global robotic process automation (RPA) software revenue is projected to reach $1.89 billion in 2021, an increase of 19.5% from 2020, according to the latest forecast from Gartner, Inc. Despite economic pressures caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the RPA market is still expected to grow at double-digit rates through 2024.

“The key driver for RPA projects is their ability to improve process quality, speed and productivity, each of which is increasingly important as organizations try to meet the demands of cost reduction during COVID-19,” said Fabrizio Biscotti, research vice president at Gartner. “Enterprises can quickly make headway on their digital optimization initiatives by investing in RPA software, and the trend isn’t going away anytime soon.”

Worldwide RPA software revenue is expected to reach $1.58 billion in 2020, an increase of 11.9% from 2019 (see Table 1). Through 2020, average RPA prices are expected to decrease 10% to 15%, with annual 5% to 10% decreases expected in 2021 and 2022, creating strong downward pricing pressure.

Team

We have a team of 10 based in South Africa and Kenya with ranging skills from Intelligent Automation and Business Analysis.

What will the funding be used for?

* Internet access costs

* Marketing to reach people in remote villages with no internet infrastructure and or electricity.

* Set up a Robotics Lab with infrastructure (computers/desktops/laptops, internet access/WIFI, electricity) required for candidates to physically attend training at the lab with a live instructor. The lab will also be used as a co-working space for candidates to practice their skills and have resources upon seeking remote employment.

Thank you so much for supporting our quest to increase leadership and representation for African women in technology.
