Founded in 2015, Aya, Inc. is a non-profit organization based in the Washington Metropolitan area for young women of color in hopes of "leaning in" to their professional endeavors through mentorship programs. We connect high school students in Southeast DC to college students at Howard University, participating in a series of workshops enhancing their leadership, entrepreneurship, and professional development skills.
With only a fraction of minority women as leaders, Aya, Inc. holds pride in its training program. From pursuing professional leadership opportunities and negotiating salaries to starting businesses and engaging in public service, we imbue confidence in young women via workshops through influence and networking. Over the course of our program, Aya women have the opportunities to build strong rapports with other students, workshop facilitators and special guests. Every graduating class will not only complete the program with the self-determination to achieve their goals, but also empower younger women to do the same.
