PlayMade: A DIY Crafting Bar in Atlanta
Our goal is to create the first inclusive bar and playground for the crafty and craft-curious.
Project Description
Our mission is to become the ultimate DIY bar in Atlanta. We aim to inspire casual crafters and the craft-curious by giving them a social experience that is welcoming and purposeful.
The problem we've identified is that active consumers desire more—a sense of achievement, personal growth, mental stimulation, connectedness, stress reduction and to live more sustainably. We believe these goals matter and are bringing them together under one roof.
The market in Atlanta consists of 132,000 working professionals. Our primary targets are casual hobbyists and the craft-curious. They want to knit over beer, meet other clay and coffee, repurpose (or try to repurpose) ruined sweaters over wine, or just want a cocktail and to do something unique.
Our offering includes high-quality bar/cafe fare and libations inside an inspiring, aethistically-pleasing space designed for all kinds of makery. We're different from crafting clubs and classes in that we leave guests to their own devices and encourage patrons to bring whatever they need to work (within certain limitations). Guests may choose to seek inspiration from our constantly changing, themed happy hours where we bring in passionate 'resident crafters'. They may also choose to bring only themselves on a whim, browse our diverse, beginner-friendly crafting guide and buy materials and tools from our shop.
Your contributions will enable us enter the next phase of making PlayMade a reality by Winter 2024. We need funding to execute our branding and marketing strategy, secure our lease, equipment and professional contracts, obtain licenses and patents for our proprietary designs and buildout of the space.

The founder, Sharonna, is an experienced professional in organizational change, digital products and DE&I. PlayMade was inspired by her extensive family of makers and creators and espcially her late great-grandmother who taught her how to sew doll clothes as a child.
